Tangs and Surgeon Fish


Clown Tang

Also known as the Lineatus Tang, Yellow body with bold horizonal blue strips. Very attractive,and active make this a good choice for large semi-aggressive tanks. Max size in capitivity 16". It is generally reef safe, will eat some invertebrates. Only one per tank. Needs larger tank and good water circulation.
Diet consists of vegetarian foods such as Spirulina, Dried Seaweed, Marine Algae.

Kole Tang (Yellow Eye Tang)

Also called Yellow Eye Tang, Striped Bristletooth Tang. Gold and Tan striped with a yellow ring around its eyes, color will change depending on where it comes from.(emarine gets theres from hawaii). Because it feeds on microalgae it makes a great reef fish. Will help control algae problems. Non-aggressive towards other fish including other Tangs, but will sometimes fight with other Kole Tangs.
Diet consists of vegetarian foods such as Spirulina, Dried Seaweed, Marine Algae.

Naso Tang

Also kown as the Lipstick Tang. Dark grey body with a blue strip in its dorsal fin, and yellow face markings. As it grows the it wil grow a lyre tail. It is a very active and fast growning tang that can be kept with other Tangs including other Naso Tangs. Because of its max size of 18" it will require a lot of swimming room.
Diet consists of vegetarian foods such as Spirulina, Dried Seaweed, Marine Algae. Will also take Frozen Plankton, Spirulina Enriched Brine Shrimp.

Orange Shoulder

Juveniles are bright yellow with a small orange mark on its shoulder. Adults are light gray on the front half of there body and grayish-blue on the back and a bright orange strip on ther shoulder. Peaceful, easy to keep fish that should be kept in a large tank with good filtration.

Powder Blue Tang

One of the most attractive fish available. Powder blue body, bright yellow dorsal fin, white highlights, and a black face mask. This tang requires special care and excellent water quality. Live rock and a tank with good filtration a must. Not as large as other tangs reaching a max size of only 9". One per tank, and not with similar tangs as it will become aggressive and territorial.
A diet rich in vegetable matter such as Spirulina, Dried Seaweed, Marine Algae. Selcon or other vitamins help retain its color.

Powder Brown Tang

Brown body with bright gold and orange fin markings, and a white face mask make this tang a prized species. Generally reef safe will nip at soft corals if underfed. A small peacefull tang that should be kept with peaceful tank mates.Rated hard because it can be difficult to feed, remember emarinefish will not ship any fish that is not eating.

The largest and least aggressive member of the tang family. Oval tan-ish brown body with bold yellow-gold vertical strips. Colors and markings can differ form ocean to ocean. Max size of 15". Like most tangs will fight with simular shaped tangs. Reef safe, likes to graze on microalgae. .

Scopas Tang (Brown Tang)

Golden brown head blending to a darker brown tail. Very popular and hardy tang. Its contant grazing makes it appealing to reef aquarists. Max size of 12". Needs plenty of swimming room and good filtration.

Unicorn Tang

Blue-gray in color, with blue edge an its dorsal and anal fins. Develops a horn on forehead when the fish reaches about 5-6 inches. Needs plenty of swimming room. Peaceful but can be aggressive towards other unicorn tangs.

Fast growing, reaching an impressive 24" max size.Can be housed with other tangs, and in reef tanks. Like to graze on micro algae.

Yellow Tang

the Yellow tang or the Hawaiian Yellow Tang is the most popular species sold today. Its bright yellow adds a splash to any aquarium. Semi-Aggressive, so should be kept one to a tank, and not with simular shaped fish. Requires a good filtration system and plenty of swimming room. Will become very territorial.
